The Harazuru hot springs are famous for being some of the best in Kyushu. Boasting an abundant flow, the waters are crystal clear, completely oderless, and slightly slicker than other springs, leaving the skin smooth and earning the springs the nickname “the waters of beauty”.
Take advantage of the “Hot Spring Traveller’s Coupon Booklet” (1,500 Yen) containing seven coupons redeemable at various hot spring resorts in the area. Special annual events include the Field Mustard Blossom Road Walk (April 1), the river fireworks festival at Chikugo (May 20), the Herb Festa in Harazuru (mid June), and the Full Moon Viewing Boat Rides (mid September). Visitors can also check out the ancient fishing method of catching Japanese trout using tamed cormorants from May 20 - October 15.
