Ohori Park

Visitors Guide

Ohori Park was constructed by overhauling an inlet of Hakata Bay that was being used as Fukuoka Castle's outer moat; the park itself was modeled after China's Xi Hu (West) Lake. The circumference around the lake is 2km (about 1.2 miles), attracting many people who enjoy jogging and cycling, using the canoes and swan-shaped paddle boats, or simply walking along and enjoying the flowers and scenery each season has to offer. Truly an oasis to people living close to downtown, the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art, a Japanese garden, a Noh theater, and a martial arts gym are also close-by. An enormous fireworks display takes place every August!
